SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to transfer protected data between a client and a web server, making it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any data. Many tech-savvy clients prefer SSH because of the improved level of security. The connection is made and the commands are sent using a command line. The offered options depend on the type of hosting service - on a shared server, for instance, files can be relocated or deleted, databases can be imported and exported, and archives can be created or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, your choices are significantly more - the web server and the database server could be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software may be set up and more. These things are not possible on a shared server, due to the fact that full root access is needed and all the other customers on that server shall be affected. While SSH is employed primarily with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs as well - Windows, Mac OS, and so on.

If you have a shared hosting account with our company and you would like to handle your content remotely via SSH, you could get SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package does not include this feature by default, you can add it with several mouse clicks via the Upgrades menu. In the same location, you'll find the server name, the port number and the username required to connect to our platform. You'll also find a box in which you may type in the password which you want to use, because it does not have to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better protection, you could also change it as frequently as you require. An extra function after SSH access is enabled will be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP through any FTP client which supports such connections.

All our virtual private server plans come with SSH access as standard, so you will not need to add any upgrades or enable anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login information, you'll be able to connect through its primary IP address and the login credentials which you've picked during the signup procedure.
